Defining Requirements - The Biggest Challenge Facing Today's Business Analysts

As business analysis continues to emerge as an important business building technique, business analysts are finding that one challenge stands in their way - business requirements analysis.

The main issues surrounding requirements gathering are:

  • Lack of time to gather and analyze requirements.
  • Clients provide solutions in the guise of requirements.
  • Finding necessary stakeholders and getting them to consensus once they are found.
  • Clients cannot articulate their requirements or provide incomplete requirements.
  • Changing and volatile requirements.

Watermark Learning recognizes the importance of effective business requirements analysis and has therefore made it a major focus of its business analysis training and certification program.

Watermark to Offer New Course on Planning and Managing Requirements

Perhaps the single most difficult project phase is gathering and managing project and product requirements. Our new course Planning and Managing Requirements examines several facets of the process. It takes the approach that gathering requirements is a consultative activity and presents several methods, models and techniques to help IT professionals work with the business as consultants.

You will also learn how to plan, manage, and trace requirements throughout the project life cycle. After taking this course, you will have new skills to help get requirements right and to ensure that solutions meet business needs.
