Watermark Learning is pleased to announce its first Executive
Breakfast Briefing for 2004. Watermark Principal, Rich Larson,
will be presenting "Improve Organizational Effectiveness
Through Business Process Management."
The issues surrounding processes can be tricky and complex.
- Process boundaries are often fuzzy.
- Process owners are many times hidden or non-existent.
- Functional divisions within organizations
often don't coincide with the true process scope, making
interconnections difficult.
- Disagreements about the best way to perform
a process abound, assuming that the processes can be agreed
on at all.
- Confusion about whether a work effort is
a process or a project can substantially alter the effort
and its outcome.
An organization's business processes differentiate it from
its competitors. Processes constitute some of the most valuable
assets an organization has. Understanding, analyzing, automating,
and continually improving processes is vital to an organization's
success. Inefficient processes can be costly because of wasted
resources, unforeseen risks, and unhappy customers.
This presentation focuses on the key issues affecting business
process management (BPM) and what they mean for project
management. It explores how process management and project
management interact and what their differences and similarities
are. Lastly, the presentation introduces some of the best
practices in process management today and a practical framework
for organizing and conducting BPM projects.
