General Information

Length and Learning Modes: In-person classes – 2 days / Virtual (Live online) – 4 sessions
Overview:

Organizations execute their strategy through programs; that is, a group of related projects managed in a coordinated way to obtain benefits one wouldn’t get by managing them individually.

From a career development perspective, Program Management is the next logical step for experienced Project Managers. While successful Program Managers have a firm grasp on the hard and soft skills required to manage a project successfully, managing programs requires a much different skillset.

Program Managers must develop a strategic mindset and be able to align multiple projects to achieve program goals and objectives. A Program Manager’s focus is on integration; integration of all the individual projects’ management plans and deliverables, and developing the approach to identify, monitor, and control the interdependencies upon program components.

In addition to managing program components, a Program Manager must also manage program stakeholders through a formal governance structure; governance is key as the stakes for a program are much higher than those for a project.
