Following is an excerpt from a forthcoming book by the authors titled The Influencing Formula: How to Become a Trusted Advisor and Influence Without Authority.

In a previous article, The Influencing Formula, we discussed our concept of the "formula" to help become influential. There are three main components, namely trust, preparation, and courage. A formula sounds as if it may be an easy thing, but of course it is not. We also know that we should do the right thing for our projects, our business units, and our organization. So what's stopping us?

Business Analyst + Leadership = Success!

By Bob Prentiss, CBAP

Hey BAs - stop taking notes and start leading!

I have taught for years that Business Analysts must be leaders (not just note takers) and I have to admit that I have not always received the warmest welcome when I delivered that message! And what is up with that? Isn't it obvious that project success will increase? Increased collaboration with your stakeholders? More control over what you do on a daily basis?

Baselines - Don't Leave Planning Without Them

By Andrea Brockmeier, PMP

When I ask project managers what a baseline is and why it's important, they tell me that it is an approved starting point against which project performance is measured.

They are right, of course.  But when I ask them if they use baselines, as often as not, I find that baselining is a fundamental project management practice that is neglected by many project managers and organizations.

CBAP Online Study Exam

"I passed the CBAP exam! I am so very relieved - it has been a lot of work, but worth it. I did 4 trial exams using the Watermark Learning Online Study Exam and the practice was worthwhile. In fact, I found the actual CBAP quite easy, compared to some of the questions in the practice exams. So thanks for putting my feet onto the right path."
