Considering getting your PMP? Software Advice recently published a report on project management job candidate trends that will make you feel pretty good about that idea.
Conducted by the Project Management Institute, the results of this research may not be terribly surprising, but it is interesting to note the relative experience, degrees, and certifications required across the fields of IT, Healthcare, and Aerospace.
Overall, the report forecasts substantial growth in the field of project management between now and 2020. Below are some of the key findings:
- Aerospace project manager positions have the highest minimum education and experience requirements.
- Over a third (38 percent) of IT positions accept relevant work experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- The Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is the most-requested or preferred certification, accounting for over 79 percent of all certification mentions. (Software Advice)
